  Keys will next face Aryna Sabalenka, who defeated No. 21 Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-4, 6-0.  Sabalenka, the second seed, won the Australian Open this year and has a 16-1 record in majors going into 2023.

  Also on Monday, defending champion Elena Rybakina was given an easy ride into the Wimbledon quarters when Beatriz Haddad Maia retired midway through the first set with a back injury.


  Rybakina had just broken for a 3-1 lead in the first set when the 13-seed Brazilian bent over in pain and grabbed her back after netting a backhand.

  Haddad Maya called the physio and her back was being manipulated.  After leaving the court for further treatment, she returned to try to restart the match after a 10-minute break.
