Christina Applegate: American actress reveals MS diagnosis

 American actress Christina Applegate has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

  Applegate first found fame as a child actress on the US sitcom Married... With Children and won an Emmy for playing Rachel's sister Amy on Friends.

  Applegate tweeted Tuesday, "It's been a strange journey. But I've had so much support from people I know who have this condition."

  She asked for "privacy" because "I go through this stuff".

  The Dead to Me actress added: "It's been a rough road. But as we all know, the road goes on. Unless [someone] tries to stop it.

Applegate, 49, has won acclaim for her TV acting roles in the sitcom Jessie (1998 - 2000) and the comedy Samantha Who.  (2007 - 2009).

      Her performance in Dead to Me earned her nominations for the Golden Globe, Emmy, Screen Actors Guild and Critics' Choice Awards.

      She won a Primetime Emmy for guest starring as Rachel's sister on Friends in two episodes in 2002 and 2003.

      His film roles include Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.  She later reprized the role of Veronica Corningstone in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

      Actress Applegate's other big screen outings include Bad Moms and The Sweetest Thing opposite Cameron Diaz.  She has also appeared on Broadway in shows such as Sweet Charity and Fauna.

In 2008, the actress underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

  She opted for surgery after testing positive for the BRCA1 breast cancer gene.
