News of Lee Jihan's death first broke when several of his Produce 101 co-stars Park Heesuk, Jo Jinhyung and Kim Dohyun took to social media to pay their respects. They wrote on Instagram: "Ji Han has left this world and gone to a comfortable place. We ask you to bid him farewell on his last journey."
Lee Jihan first came into the limelight in 2017 as a contestant on Mnet's "Produce 101" Season 2. He originally auditioned for a show with a cover of EXO's "Overdose" and was eliminated in the fifth episode.
Lee Jihan made his acting debut in the web drama Today Was Another Nam Hyung Day in 2019. He was 24 years old (internationally) at the time of his death. His morgue will be set up in the mourning hall of Myongji Hospital, and his funeral will be held on November 1.
Lee Jihan was one of 154 people killed in Saturday's raid in Itaewon, the capital's busy nightlife district. Thousands of people gathered in the neighborhood's narrow streets to celebrate Halloween celebrations when the crowds became overwhelming, causing panic and an eventual deadly crowd.
